The Black Student Union

The Black Student Union is an organization founded on the principles of education, empowerment, and support to students of color at Birmingham-Southern College. The purpose of the organization is  to help promote understanding and good relations among ourselves and the Birmingham-Southern College community, increase awareness of political, economic, and social forces affecting black people, and inspire an appreciation of black heritage.

2018 – 2019 Black Student Union Scholarship

The BSU scholarship fund was established in 2003 by the Black Alumni Association. The purpose of the fund is to support the mission of BSC and to recognize an outstanding rising senior. For consideration, candidates must be sophomores or juniors and have a minimum of GPA of 3.0. The scholarship shall be awarded to a student who demonstrates academic excellence and leadership involvement with the Black Student Union, specifically, and BSC in general. The scholarship award ($1500) will be announced and presented at Honors Day. The deadline for application is Monday, April 9th at 4 pm.
